Map for Yamwits Lodge and Campgrounds |
| Description: |
Yamwits Lodge is a family owned and operated business, situated within a sprawling citrus farm located at Mile 35 1/2 on the Hummingbird Highway. It is surrounded by picturesque mountains and pristine rivers flowing through caves and ancient Mayan settlements and is a convenient mid-point on the journy south.
Although we cater primarily to student groups, Yamwits is the ideal place for nature lovers or for those who just want to get away from the madding crowds. Yet, the capital city, Belmopan, the southern beaches, or the ancient Mayan sites in the west are just minutes away. The Southern Transport Bus Line runs just a few yards from our door, so access to any part of the country is readily available.
The lower image is of the legendary Sleeping Giant who was given the job of digging waterways throughout the entire Maya Mountain range. He lies resting after his exhausting assignment.
Facing the magnificent "Sleeping Giant" along the Maya Mountains. The upper flat consists of six (6) rooms with ceiling fans, private bath, hot and cold water. The lower flat has three bedrooms, bathroom, living room and dinning room as well as a kitchen area. This lower flat is fully furnished and is ideal for a family of small group visiting for an extended period.
The wide 1st floor verandah overlooks 45 acres of citrus trees, coconut trees, palm trees, fruit trees, and local flora. This is the ideal place to just sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, a perfect place for birdwatchers with a large variety of indiginous species attracted by the fruits and flowers surrounding the tranquil property.
CAMPING
There are three (3) thatched camping platforms. The thatch provides shade and the platforms (about 10 inches off the ground) serve as flooring for the tents. Wake up in the morning to the sounds of beautiful birds and other wild life that make this their local resting place. |
